Making a Difference in our Local Community

At ETI, we like to do everything we can to give back to our local community. Last Christmas, after a hugely difficult year for many, we wanted to ensure that we gave as much as we could to those in need in our local area. The three main charities that we decided to support were Guild Care, Worthing Food Foundation and Turning Tides. All three of these incredible charities brought joy and basic necessities to those struggling over Christmas.

All throughout November, December and January we donated a shopping list per week to Worthing Food Foundation, to help local families in food poverty access essential food as well as Christmas treats. So far we have donated over 1,000 items with a total value of £3,000.

Last Christmas, Guild Care tackled the issue of loneliness with a fantastic campaign called Worthing Cares. This enabled those spending Christmas alone to receive a festive hamper and a socially distanced chat on Christmas day. We pledged £3000 to the campaign, which brought 60 hampers to people in our local area.

The final campaign that we supported was Turning Tides’ Christmas Isn’t Cancelled appeal. We donated £3,000 towards the campaign, which provided those in need with turkeys and trimmings, together with shelter, counselling and support. As temperature enthusiasts, we also donated some Thermapens to ensure that the meats were safely cooked to temperature.

Making a difference in our local community, throughout the year but especially at Christmas, is integral to our values. It was a delight to be involved with these wonderful campaigns, and we hope to be able to do the same this year. Going forwards, we will be continuing to support Worthing Food Bank with weekly donations throughout March and April, as well as other local charities throughout the year. We would encourage all businesses to give whatever they can back to their community, as the benefits of exchanging values and connecting with local people is extremely rewarding.
