ETI Charity Donations & CSR Activities 2023
Throughout 2023 ETI has supported a number of various causes and organisations. Learn more about each donation or collaboration below:
Guild Care
Guild Care, ETI’s chosen charity, has been working hard to raise much-needed funds throughout 2023, and we were delighted to sponsor their Christmas campaign again this year in addition to their annual golf and Christmas Jumper day. ETI has contributed over £3,200 in donations, and all the money raised is helping Guild Care to continue offering its outstanding services to the people of Worthing and the surrounding area. ETI are very proud to support such a fantastic charity.
Love Your Hospital
We are thrilled to have contributed to Love Your Hospital this year by providing financial support. The funds donated will play a vital role in the upcoming outdoor project at Worthing Hospital, scheduled to commence in early 2024. Our contribution aims to facilitate the creation of a serene outdoor space within the hospital premises, offering a peaceful retreat for patients, staff, and visitors to relax, unwind, or enjoy a quiet moment.
Cancer Services in Sussex
During 2023, ETI donated over 1,000 IR Forehead thermometers to MacMillan Cancer Support, University Hospitals Sussex, Worthing Hospital, and Sussex Cancer Trust. Cancer is something that has sadly touched many of our lives, so we jumped at the opportunity to be able to support local people living with cancer. Temperature monitoring is vital to identify neutropenic sepsis in cancer patients, which can be deadly if left untreated. Our donation of infrared thermometers enables patients who need it most, or who may not be able to afford one, to access this crucial monitoring equipment.
NECS – Uganda
ETI has donated funds to Nkuringo Education & Community Support (NECS) this year, a UK-based charity supporting the community of Nkuringo Southeast Uganda. Our donation has provided two young girls with the opportunity to attend school and has covered the cost of their education, food, uniform, and shoes for a year. Funds have also contributed to the Feed a Student Pot, helping other students in the community. The sponsored students are currently in the Senior 2 class at Nkuringo Secondary School, and we are thrilled to be able to help them continue their education, something that would not have been possible without support from the charity and our donation.
We were also pleased to donate 150 infrared forehead thermometers to the charity that, in addition to education, provides much-needed support to various women’s groups, Batwa Pygmy reservations, and two HIV Groups, as well as complex medical aid to local people who could not otherwise afford the specialist treatment required. These have been distributed to the matrons in both the primary and secondary schools to ensure they minimise any spread of infection and also the medical centres and clinics throughout the region including the HIV/maternity hospital, all in hard-to-reach locations.
West Sussex Mind
Back in January 2023, we helped to raise awareness of mental health and depression and the importance of reaching out and talking to friends, family, and colleagues. Thanks to all the employees who got involved with the Blue Monday event which enabled ETI to generate £400 in support of West Sussex Mind, a local independent charity supporting people with their mental health.
Care for Veterans
In April, ETI’s Perky Putters took part in the Care for Veterans charity golf day. The event proved to be a remarkable success, raising an impressive £8,865 for the support and rehabilitation of the disabled Veterans in their care. Based in Worthing, Care for Veterans was established in 1919 to care for those soldiers returning from World War I with life-changing disabilities. For over 100 years, they have provided long-term nursing care, rehabilitation, respite and award-winning end-of-life care to disabled ex-armed forces personnel from the RAF, Army, Royal Navy and auxiliary services.
St Andrews School – Cooking Competition
We were thrilled to collaborate with St Andrew’s School once again by taking an exciting culinary experience to their year 10 students in June 2023 through a MasterChef-style cooking competition. Cooking has always been a popular and engaging activity among students, and this event aimed to ignite their passion for the subject while fostering teamwork, creativity, and healthy competition.
Dan Cotton, local chef and owner of Humble Restaurant Group, led the event with a live cooking demonstration and created a delicious dish that highlighted the importance of cooking to temperature and food safety. The competition was a great success and provided an excellent platform for the students to showcase their culinary talents. Each participant had access to a Thermapen in order to monitor the temperature of their dishes throughout the cooking process, ensuring that their creations were cooked to perfection. The top-performing students were recognised and rewarded for their efforts and skilful execution.
ETI and St Andrews have shared strong links for many years, with several members of ETI staff being ex-pupils. This collaboration exemplifies our ties with the community and undoubtedly created an unforgettable learning experience for the Year 10 students.
Worthing Soup Kitchen
In December 2023, ETI donated £1,000 to Worthing Soup Kitchen, a charitable organisation dedicated to offering support and emergency provisions for the homeless and vulnerable in Worthing, West Sussex. This donation is intended to assist in the provision of food hampers and essential items for individuals facing challenging circumstances.
The outreach efforts of the charity extend beyond the confines of the Day Centre, ensuring that food parcels and necessary supplies reach individuals who may have difficulty accessing the centre, both in Worthing and the surrounding areas. Through this contribution, ETI aims to make a positive impact on the well-being of the community and address the immediate needs of those who require assistance.
Arundel Lido
ETI has recently teamed up with Arundel Lido. A donation and products for their pool maintenance procedures were presented to the Lid, and Jason Webb (ETI Managing Director) was even brave enough to don his wetsuit and take a cold-water dip, demonstrating the robustness of our products in the water, which was an eye-watering 13 °C!
It was an opportunity to find out how our support will benefit the community. Beyond pool maintenance, a portion of our contribution will help the Lido to create a Christmas Grotto for children in educational programs in and around Arundel, complete with Elf School and a Christmas gift for each child. The Lido are extremely proactive in the community and offer various events throughout the year, including organised swimming lessons for school children, regular lunch clubs for people living with dementia, and family fun days, to name a few.
Worthing Rugby Club
Here at ETI, we’ve always been keen to support local sports, particularly clubs with a strong youth development programme. We’ve been proud sponsors of Worthing Rugby Football Club for many years. Sports clubs and similar organisations like WRFC just couldn’t run without the support of its members, and volunteers, and they rely heavily on sponsorship from local businesses. We look forward to offering our continued support as they progress through the 2023/2024 season.
Adur & Worthing Business Awards
There’s so much to be proud of when it comes to our local business community. From impressive start-ups to thriving manufacturers, exciting independents, and professional services — there’s no shortage of talent and innovation. ETI takes great pride in being a sponsor of the AWBA Training & Development Award category, supporting the ongoing growth and excellence in our community.
SW Honey Farms
In March 2022, ETI became the proud sponsor of a local Bee hive at SW Honey Farms. Established in 2019 by Stuart Weekes, SW Honey Farms is a family-run business located in West Sussex. Starting with just 10 hives, they now have apiaries all across the Sussex coast from Worthing to Chichester. We were thrilled to continue our sponsorship in 2023 as part of our ongoing efforts to fulfil our environmental objectives and community engagement programme.
Further monetary donations have been made to Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice, St Barnabas Hospice and Enzo’s Christmas toy appeal.
